2 Chronicles 18:22
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee. Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
The lying spirit put in the mouth of the prophets was at work in the four hundred prophets who assured Ahab that he would gain the victory in battle. Against their false assurance stood Micaiah, who gave the true warning that the campaign would end in disaster and leave Israel scattered. Ahab rejected Micaiah's warning and went into battle anyway, where he died, so that what happened fulfilled the evil spoken against him through Micaiah's word.
