2 Corinthians 7:16

I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.

Full confidence in all things is declared after wrong has been reproved. Correction is to be given as a friend to the one who has erred, with the reason for it explained, with pain felt in giving pain, and with sympathy and trust toward those who are imperfect in character but are struggling to overcome temptation and are in danger of falling. Expressing such confidence comforts the tempted and helps them stand fast and overcome, instead of repelling them by censure and distrust or by needless reproach.

Rejoicing and confidence in others are expressed even amid concern and anxiety about some of their views and attitudes toward important measures. That confidence rests on the belief that when people humble themselves before God, renew their consecration, seek the Lord, and submit their wills to Him, they will learn to see matters rightly and do God's will. Those who see matters wrongly may thus learn to agree with their coworkers and avoid serious mistakes.
