2 Kings 14:5

And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.

The verse stands in 2 Kings 13-14, which continue the sad story of transgression, war, strife, defeat, captivity, and conspiracy. Those chapters belong to the days of the kings of the ten tribes from Jehu to Hoshea. Those northern kings were afflicted by Syria and Assyria until the complete subversion of the kingdom in B.C. 721-722. That was the time when Elisha, Hosea, Jonah, and Amos prophesied. Even then God kept His faithful little remnant.
