2 Kings 15:16

Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

The verse belongs to the account of Menahem's short and troubled reign over Israel. That reign lasted ten years. In sequence it comes after the dynasty of Jehu ending with Zachariah and Shallum and before the reigns of Pekahiah, Pekah, and Hoshea. During Menahem's reign the kingdom of Israel was made tributary to Assyria by Tiglath-Pileser III. Afterward, under those later kings, the kingdom of Israel came to an end by the invasion of Shalmaneser of Assyria completed by Sargon, with the tribes carried away into captivity and scattered.
