2 Kings 21:15
Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day. Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
2 Kings 21:15 falls within the history of Judah after the ten tribes had been swept away, in the final section of the account in Kings that continues through the Babylonian Captivity. It gives God's charge and reason for judgment on Judah, that the people had persistently done what was evil in His sight and provoked Him to anger from the time their fathers came out of Egypt until that day. It places the idolatrous rule of the wicked Manasseh and his wicked son Amon within that long continued rebellion since the departure from Egypt.
In this it shows Judah following Israel's same course of idolatry and departure from God until captivity came to her. It belongs to Judah's spotted record in which the kingdom always prospered under righteous, faithful rulers, yet after such prosperity rulers repeatedly turned from God to the grossest idolatry, bringing calamity on themselves and their people. Although the surrounding chapter records Manasseh's wickedness, even he received God's mercy.
