2 Samuel 14:9
And the woman of Tekoah said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house: and the king and his throne be guiltless. And the woman of Tekoah said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house: and the king and his throne be guiltless.
Joab arranged the effort to secure Absalom's reconciliation with David, and this appeal belongs to that account. In it the woman of Tekoa offers to bear the iniquity herself and on her father's house, so that the king and his throne remain guiltless. She makes this offer to win the king's protection and to move him to bring his banished son home.
