2 Samuel 9:11

Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.

David kept his covenant with Jonathan by welcoming Jonathan's son Mephibosheth to a place at the royal table, treating him as one of the king's own sons. Mephibosheth was made a constant guest there, seated continually with the royal household. Along with that honor David restored Saul's possessions to him to provide support for Mephibosheth's household. David's continued kindness overcame Mephibosheth's prejudice against him, until Mephibosheth became devoted to David and loyal to the king God had chosen.
