Exodus 30:33

Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.

The sacred anointing oil was set apart exclusively for its holy use, reserved wholly for the purpose God appointed. No one was permitted to compound anything like it, so that no duplicate of its formula could ever be made for common or personal use. No one was permitted to put any of it upon a stranger, so that none of the oil itself could be applied to any unauthorized person outside its sacred service. Whoever violated either prohibition, whether by counterfeiting the oil or by misapplying it, was to be cut off from his people.
