Ezekiel 16:26-29 sets out Israel's unfaithfulness to God under the figure of adultery. The Jewish church departed from the Lord and allied itself with heathen nations. By that course it became like a wife who betrays her husband. The same condemnation rests upon Babylon, which is Rome, for corrupting herself through unlawful alliance with worldly powers.
