Ezekiel 18:12
Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination, Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
Oppression of the poor and needy stands in the verse as a defining mark of the wicked person's conduct. It is grouped together with spoiling by violence, failing to restore the pledge, lifting the eyes to idols, and committing abomination. Such unjust and oppressive conduct is sin before God. Hard-hearted and unjust treatment of workers is itself this kind of sinful oppression, which God sees and will judge.
