Ezekiel 22:17

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Ezekiel was a priestly prophet who prophesied among Israel's captives between 595 and 574 B.C., and his prophetic work followed visions that impressed God's majesty upon him before he delivered warnings and reproof to his people. The verse marks the beginning of a message from the Lord to Ezekiel, and the chapter belongs to his account of the steps that led Israel into exile, which included idolatry and Sabbath desecration. Ezekiel 22 speaks of the same time and people as Isaiah 30:8-11, Ezekiel 13, and Jeremiah 6:9-19, namely the professed people of God in the last days who walk in violation of God's precepts while lulled by the cry of peace and safety and refusing to hearken to God's word and law.
