Ezekiel 23:47
And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
Ezekiel 23 belongs to searching moral instruction that exposes the awful sins of Israel and Judah by portraying Samaria and Jerusalem as lewd adulterous women. That adultery was spiritual fornication in forsaking God and seeking help in Egypt, which was rebellion against Him. It was turning from God toward foreign powers, especially the Babylonians.
Upon them is pronounced the judgment that a company shall stone them with stones, dispatch them with swords by slaying their sons and daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. This is linked to Babylon's attack on Jerusalem and the removal of Israel's crown, followed by the overturning of the kingdom until He comes whose right it is, dated to 593 BC. The corrupt woman is the symbol of a corrupt church, in contrast to a pure woman as the symbol of a true church.
The same guilt rests on professed Christian churches today that seek union with the civil power. God has provided fullness of blessing in Jesus Christ, demands the whole allegiance of His church, and will not divide His glory with another.
