Ezekiel 24:21
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
The word was given to the house of Israel as part of Ezekiel's sign while Jerusalem was under invasion and siege. The excellency of strength, the desire of the eyes, and that which the soul pities are Jerusalem's sanctuary, held as the people's pride and cherished desire. God Himself declared that He would profane that sanctuary and take it away from them, with their sons and daughters whom they had left behind to fall by the sword. This stripping of sanctuary and children was judgment for refusing God's word.
