A Herdsman Leads a Camel Through Ruined Rabbahby emmanuel_higgins

Ezekiel 25:4

Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.

This prophecy stands among the declarations against the kingdoms surrounding Israel, showing how God deals with nations and brings down their pride. The sentence against Ammon came because that people rejoiced when Judah was humiliated and mocked Jerusalem in its desolation. That rejoicing and mocking included scorn over the making desolate of God's sanctuary.

The Lord therefore decreed to deliver Ammon's land to the men of the east for a possession. Those eastern peoples would settle in the land, setting their palaces there and making their dwellings there. They would live off it by eating its fruit and drinking its milk, that is by consuming its produce and its livestock products. This handing over to eastern occupiers was the specific destruction and occupation appointed for Ammon. Its capital Rabbah itself would become a place for camels and a dwelling for flocks.
