Ezekiel 40:22

And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.

The north gate detail belongs to the measuring of God's house by a man whose appearance was like brass, standing in the gate with a measuring reed in his hand. He measured the whole building and recorded every least part, including the little chambers and doorways and arches and pillars and the great gate facing east, while this detail gives its windows and its arches and its palm trees, its measure after the gate looking toward the east, and its ascent by seven steps with its arches before them. The exactness of the measurement shows that true measure is everything and is the law of God, which God puts into even the smallest of human acts and dealings, so that the spiritual measure is God's measure of the person. Learning and living that measure elevates and ennobles and sanctifies the heart and affections, and builds character after the divine model by the power and grace brought through Jesus Christ. It forms a righteous stature and structure through a righteous life in honest, faithful dealings, loving God supremely and neighbor as self, preparing for the glory to be revealed.
