Ezekiel 40:49
The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side. The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
The vision shows a man with a measuring reed going through the temple building and setting down each part in turn, including the length and breadth of the porch, the steps by which it was approached upward, and the pillars standing by the posts on one side and the other. The length is given as twenty cubits and the breadth as eleven cubits, with the ascent and the paired pillars recorded as belonging to the same measured order. The minuteness of that record shows that no part is left unmeasured, but the whole structure is brought under one exact standard. In its application, that standard declares that God's house is ordered by a divinely fixed pattern and law, and the measuring calls Israel to face its iniquities and to measure itself by the pattern shown.
