Ezekiel 41:11

And the doors of the side chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits round about.

The detail about the doors of the side chambers facing the open space, one to the north and one to the south with the surrounding open space five cubits wide, belongs to the smallest particulars recorded in the vision of the man whose appearance was like brass standing in the gate and measuring the whole structure with a reed in his hand. That measuring embraced the little chambers and doorways and arches and pillars and the great gate facing east, with every least item set down according to measurement by the reed. The minuteness of the record shows that nothing was left unmeasured, from the greatest gate to the narrowest doorway and surrounding space.

Such exact measuring means that true measure is everything, and that true measure is the very law of God. That law He brings to bear upon the least of human acts and dealings, so that no part of life is outside its reckoning. By learning that law and living it, people are lifted up, ennobled, and sanctified in heart and affection, and made faithful in the least. They come to love God supremely and their neighbor as themselves, building character after the divine pattern through the power and grace provided through Jesus Christ, and thus preparing for the glory to be revealed. After the measuring was finished the glory of God entered, and the house was to be shown to Israel so they would be ashamed of their wrongs and measure the pattern. For this is the law of the house, that the whole area upon the mountaintop round about is supremely holy.
