Ezekiel 42:3
Over against the twenty cubits which were for the inner court, and over against the pavement which was for the utter court, was gallery against gallery in three stories. Over against the twenty cubits which were for the inner court, and over against the pavement which was for the utter court, was gallery against gallery in three stories.
The detail belongs to the measuring of the house, gallery opposite gallery in three stories, set over against the twenty cubits belonging to the inner court and over against the pavement belonging to the outer court. It was taken with the reed by the one with the appearance of brass standing in the gate, and with it every little chamber and doorway and arch and pillar was recorded, together with the great gate facing toward the east. True measure is everything, for it is the very law of God brought down into the least acts and dealings of life.
That exact measuring lays bare false human standards and values, showing them to be out of line with God. It calls the house of Israel to be ashamed of its iniquities and to measure the pattern, and it declares the law of the house to be most holy upon the top of the mountain. When that measure is learned and lived through the power and grace brought through Jesus Christ, men are elevated and ennobled and sanctified. They are made faithful in the least, loving God supremely and their neighbor as themselves, building character after the divine model and becoming ready for the glory to be revealed when the glory of God comes in.
There is therefore present need for persons whose characters and works measure life by God. Their righteous and honest and faithful dealings make up the whole righteous stature and structure.
