Ezekiel 6:14

So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more desolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

God's stretching out of His hand is the making of the land desolate in every habitation, that its people shall know that He is the Lord. It is the destroying of the high places, the bringing of slain men upon every high hill, and the besieging of the people in all their gates until the high and fenced walls in which they trusted come down throughout the land. This was fulfilled in the Roman subjection of Judea ending with the overthrow of Masada, where nine hundred and sixty slain lay upon the high rock fortress. That desolation stood as a sign and wonder of the curses brought by manifold sins. It proved that God in anger had deserted His people, so that in the judgment they should know that He is the Lord.
