Ezekiel 7:10

Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

Ezekiel 7:10-19 belongs to a description of the coming time of trouble, when divine judgment and calamity fall upon the land. Its setting is a future crisis marked by sword without and famine, pestilence, and confusion within. The declaration that the day is come and the morning has gone forth announces that the appointed day has arrived.

The blossomed rod is the rod of judgment coming into effect, while the budding of pride means that pride has ripened to its fullness. In that crisis the wicked wrongly blame the calamities on the Sabbath-keeping faithful.
