Jerusalem Mourners Throw Their Silver into the Streetby emmanuel_higgins

Ezekiel 7:18

They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

Ezekiel 7:18 stands within a prophecy of severe judgments to fall upon the land by sword and famine and pestilence and great confusion. In that setting it portrays the terror and distress that attend such judgments, with the people girded in sackcloth, overwhelmed by horror, shamed in face, and made bald in mourning. That portrayal reaches forward to the future time of trouble, when the same anguish and humiliation will be seen again. Then the wicked, suffering under the judgments, will charge God's people with having brought those calamities upon them.
