Ezra 10:34

Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,

Ezra 10:34 names Maadai, Amram, and Uel as sons of Bani who had taken foreign wives after the return from the captivity. It stands within the detailed record of Ezra's work to separate the people from forbidden heathen alliances and to restore their spiritual condition. That separation and restoration qualified the people to take part in rebuilding Jerusalem.

That practical separation from forbidden alliances came before the people could be taught the law. The verse gives only the names without explaining them. Many verses in the Bible are of this kind, recording people's names rather than stating promises.
