The verse records Jacob's sons going up out of Egypt and coming to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan. Their journey was the trip home after obtaining grain in Egypt during the famine. They made that return with joy after Joseph had gladly forgiven them.
They carried the news that Joseph was yet alive and was governor over all Egypt. They came abundantly supplied with provisions and with carriages and wagons to bring Jacob and their families to Egypt. Jacob was at first unable to believe their report, but the wagons and loaded animals and Benjamin's return convinced him and filled him with joy.
