The chapter dated to the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month in the second year of Darius carries lessons on the people's responsibility to give attention to the Lord's house. Its instruction concerning the rebuilding of the temple establishes that provision for a place of worship belongs among first duties. Such a house for worship is therefore not to be left until last while other interests are served first.
