Hosea 9:12
Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them! Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!
Hosea 9:12 belongs to Hosea's warning to the backslidden northern tribes of coming captivity and national decline. Those people had mingled with other nations and turned from God. Even if they bring up children, they will be bereaved of them until not a man is left.
If people depart from the Lord, He may depart from them and leave them without His favor. When He departs from people, woe comes upon them. That departure brings loss and destruction.
Continuing in sin can go on until God's patience ends and the separation becomes final. A person may still appear healthy, feel at ease, and enjoy life, yet have already crossed an unseen boundary from which there is no return. The verse therefore calls for repentance while opportunity remains and for not hardening the heart.
