Isaiah 36:22
Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh. Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
After the Assyrian officers had defied Jerusalem and God Himself, Eliakim the son of Hilkiah who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder came back to Hezekiah and laid before him the words spoken by Rabshakeh. They came with their clothes torn, and that rending was the outward sign of the grief and distress stirred in them by what they had heard. When Hezekiah heard their report he likewise tore his clothes, clothed himself in sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.
