Jeremiah 16:5

For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.

Among the prophecies running from Jeremiah 3 to Jeremiah 21, the meaning is very clear in awful denunciation against sin. That denunciation carries sorrow of heart over the transgression of the people and a most touching appeal to return to God. The appeal was met with utter lack of response from the mass of the people.

The taking away of peace, lovingkindness, and mercies is the withdrawal of those blessings from the wicked. The command not to enter the house of mourning and not to lament or bemoan foretells the second coming of Christ, when the wicked will be slain. At that time there will be no one left to mourn for them or to bury them.
