Jeremiah 24:5
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. Jeremiah 24 portrays a people whose hearts are estranged from God and who are determined to do unrighteousness. In that setting the good figs stand for those of Judah who are carried away captive. It is God Himself who sends them out of their homeland. He sends them into the land of the Chaldeans. That sending is for their good.
