Jeremiah 29:32

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.

This text belongs to the record of letters and to the controversy between Jeremiah and the false prophets during the Babylonian captivity. It is set in that conflict over true and false prophetic messages while God's people were in exile.

It declares God's punishment upon Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his seed for teaching rebellion against Him. No man of his line would be left to dwell among the people. He himself would not behold the good that would be done for God's people. In this it warns prophets who turn people away from obeying God's commands.
