Jeremiah 41:13

Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.

Jeremiah 41:13 stands in Jeremiah 32 to 45, which give the history of the two years before the fall of Jerusalem. More particularly it belongs to Jeremiah 41:1-18, which recounts the assassination of Gedaliah at Mizpeh and the resulting dispersion of the remnant of Jews left in the land by the king of Babylon. Gedaliah was the Jewish viceroy left by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, after the destruction of Jerusalem.

His murder was the reason the Jews observed a fast in the seventh month. This is the Fast of Gedaliah on Tisri 3, one of the four fasts commemorating events connected with the fall of Jerusalem.
