Jeremiah 50:24
I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD. The Lord Himself laid a snare for Babylon, and Babylon was taken in it without being aware. She was found and caught in this way because she had fought against the Lord. Her capture and downfall were the Lord's own work, for He opened His armory and brought out the weapons of His indignation against the land of the Chaldeans.
This judgment stands joined to deliverance for Israel and Judah, whose strong Redeemer pleads their cause. By that pleading He gives rest to the land while bringing disquiet to the inhabitants of Babylon.
