Jeremiah 51:58
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.
The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken and her high gates burned with fire, so that her defenses are destroyed and the ruin of the city is brought about. All the labor of the people to build and preserve the city shall prove vain, ending only in weariness and in ruin in the fire. Its fall shall bring to an end its pride and haughtiness. It shall be left desolate like Sodom and Gomorrah, never again to be inhabited. This is the judgment of the divine Watcher upon Babylon in its fall.
