Job's Prosperity, Calamity and Restorationby KalebRosendahl

Job 2:11

Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.

Job's three friends came each from his own place by joint appointment to mourn with him and to comfort him in his humiliation and suffering. They came without understanding his humiliation and suffering. Their comfort took the form of charging that he was afflicted because of his sins. The verse thus shows that professed friends can watch with a jealous eye, secretly rejoice when affliction comes, and accuse the sufferer that sin caused it. Their failure to understand Job parallels the failure to understand the conduct of Jesus and the mystery of His mission as the divine Son of God and Creator who lived in poverty, was content in the lowliest position, and remained constant in serenity under trial and deprivation.
