Job 22:29

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

When people are brought low, they are to declare that there will be an uplifting, for God will save the humble person by raising them up.

This promise belongs with acquaintance with God, with receiving His words and laying them up in the heart, with delighting in Him, and with prayer to Him. To know God in this way prepares the cast-down one to speak confidence of being lifted up and to look for deliverance as the portion of the lowly.

It also belongs in the setting of vows made to God, where faithfully paying what was promised opens the way for His help, for answered prayer, and for hope restored. The one who keeps the vow in the time of lowness may therefore expect divine aid and renewed courage, with the assurance that humiliation will give place to exaltation.
