Leviathan Rises Breathing Fire From the Seaby emmanuel_higgins

Job 41:31

He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

The verse belongs among the mysteries of God in nature that even persons of the greatest intellect cannot understand and that the most profound scholarship cannot answer. It was not put in Scripture to be answered, but to call attention to the deep mysteries of God and to teach that human wisdom is limited and that the surroundings of daily life hold many things beyond the comprehension of finite beings. It displays the infinite power by which God reveals Himself, which cannot be fully comprehended, and teaches that He is to be acknowledged as much for what He does not reveal of Himself as for what is open to limited comprehension. In both divine revelation and in nature God has given such mysteries to command faith, so that people are ever searching, ever inquiring, ever learning, and yet there is an infinity still beyond.

Its image of the deep boiling like a pot will apply to the rivers just before Christ comes, when fire and volcanic eruptions cause them to boil amid the destruction of the wicked. The rivers are made to boil by molten ore, rocks, and heated mud from volcanic eruptions, amid fire, earthquakes, and upheavals in the violent destruction of the wicked on earth. Through that upheaval the saints are preserved as Noah was preserved in the flood.

It depicts the sea in upheaval, boiling like a pot and casting stones onto the land during the shaking of earth and heaven when God speaks to His people. That violent upheaval of the sea boiling like a pot takes place during the shaking of the earth when the voice of God delivers the righteous from captivity. This is what will happen to the sea in the time of trouble when God delivers His people by speaking the day and hour of the coming of Jesus and giving them the everlasting covenant. Then the sea boils like a pot and throws stones upon the land, together with the sun rising and the moon standing still, streams stopping their flow, dark heavy clouds clashing against each other, the voice of God like many waters shaking heaven and earth, the sky opening and shutting in commotion, and the mountains shaking like a reed in the wind and casting ragged rocks all around.
