Joshua 17:8

Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;

The verse stands in the portion concerned with subduing the Canaanites and apportioning the land, coming after the account of Achan's sin and its consequences. It belongs to the record of dividing and settling the Promised Land among the tribes, a work marked by lack of faith and slowness on Israel's part. In that division it separates the surrounding country of Tappuah, held by Manasseh, from the town of Tappuah itself, which lay on Manasseh's border yet belonged to Ephraim. The account to which it belongs ends with the assurance that all God had promised was fulfilled.
