Leviticus 3:9

And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat thereof, and the whole rump, it shall he take off hard by the backbone; and the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

The regulation belongs to the peace offering, directing that the fat and the whole rump be removed hard by the backbone and offered by fire to the Lord. The offering was presented to the Lord with prayer for His acceptance and blessing, while a portion was reserved for the people to eat together in a sacred feast. The sacrificial instructions were given through Moses to teach that these offerings were more than outward acts. They represented the ministry and death of Christ as the Savior who would bear the sins of the world. When properly observed, this service fostered true devotion, piety, kindness, and sympathy, instead of mere ceremony or self-gratification.
