Nahum 3:19

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

The sentence is directed to Nineveh and to the Ninevites themselves. They are depicted as cruel and ravenous, with the ferocity and devouring appetite of a lion. Their wickedness is declared to have passed over others continually, spreading so widely and persistently that the question is raised upon whom it had not come.

Because that continual oppression reached so many, the bruise upon the city admits of no healing and its wound is grievous. Its overthrow will cause all who hear the report of it to rejoice and to clap their hands over it in triumph.
