Nehemiah 10:9

And the Levites: both Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel;

Nehemiah 10:9 belongs to the account of the Jews at Jerusalem during the last reformation under Nehemiah, the governor appointed of the Lord and given the burden of restoring Jerusalem, with its ups and downs, battles and conflicts, defeats and victories. The Levites it names were joined with the people in the covenant recorded in Nehemiah 8-10 to keep the law of Moses. That covenant established the Pentateuch as the authoritative and canonical book of the Jews.

The verse stands among the lists of names in Ezra and Nehemiah, like the lists of the leading ones who came up from the captivity and of those who had married foreign wives. It contains simply the names of persons and gives no expressed precious promise to God's people. It belongs with more than fifteen hundred such name-verses in the Bible that cannot be counted as promises.
