Numbers 27:7
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
The ruling declared that the daughters of Zelophehad spoke what was right and commanded that they be given a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren, with their father's inheritance caused to pass to them. That command secured to them their father's property among his brothers and relatives. The verse itself has nothing to do with Sabbath observance. The burnt-offering requirements found nearby belong to the ceremonial law, distinct from the moral code, and were nailed to the cross. In this way the chapter guards the right of women to inherit.
When the case was brought to Moses he did not decide it himself but brought a matter he could not decide to the Lord and then gave God's decision as the answer. This shows Moses was not a lawgiver but only received words from the mouth of God and spoke them to the people. It establishes the pattern of Moses as prophet and teacher who delivers what God gives him. The same pattern was followed by Christ, who taught only what the Father gave Him to speak.
