Numbers 33:50

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

The chapter containing the verse is mainly a list of names that preserves Israel's encampments and gives practice in pronouncing them. Within that list, Numbers 33:18-36 records eighteen encampments between Hazeroth and Kadesh-barnea, where the spies were sent, though nothing noteworthy is recorded at most of those places and little remains of them beyond their names. The chapter also contains oases such as the fountains and palm trees of Elim.

The verse belongs to Numbers 31 to 33. It belongs to the Numbers 32-34 portion grouped with Psalm 68. The verse comes after the stay at Kadesh where Miriam died and was buried, where unbelief kept Israel from entering Canaan on whose border they stood, and where murmuring for water provoked Moses until he spoke rashly and took glory to himself rather than giving glory to God. It also comes after Edom refused Israel passage through their land and after Aaron died at Mount Hor.

The verse gives God's warning concerning the idolatrous inhabitants of Canaan. The verse teaches that no secret sin can be hidden from God.
