Psalms 103:4

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

God rescues a person's life from destruction and ruin and crowns or surrounds that person with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Together with the declaration that He forgives iniquities and heals diseases, this presents Him as the One who takes away sin, shows mercy, forgives sin, heals disease, restores people from illness, and sustains their lives, and all life-giving and healing power comes from Him.

This redemption and crowning are experienced when the righteousness of Christ enters the soul with life-giving influence and Christ abides in the heart, and as people connect with Christ by faith. God's transforming work in those who so connect with Him makes them kind, sympathetic, and loving. The paralytic's restoration illustrates this deliverance, seen in renewed strength, hope, and joy and in the family's thanksgiving to God.

These acts are benefits to be remembered and reasons to bless God, praise Him, and declare them as a testimony to His mercy and love by telling others of His dealings, so that others may hear and praise Him. That experience calls for songs of praise on the lips and in the heart, meditation on Christ's sufferings, thankfulness that there is forgiveness with the Lord instead of watching to accuse and condemn others, and drawing water from the wells of salvation. Wearing the crown of His favor, those He crowns are to glorify Him by sharing with others the abundance He has given them.

The crowning means God daily loads life with benefits, with mercies new every morning and fresh every evening. Redemption grounds every obligation to serve the Lord, with obligations stronger and more numerous now than ever, and because new favors are conferred daily the debt to God daily increases. Therefore natural appetites must be kept under control, and eating, dressing, and working must be done as those obligated to God and bound to glorify Him in all things.
