Psalms 106:26

Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

The verse belongs to the record of Israel's wilderness history and experience, which stands as a warning and example to God's people in the last days, for many Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness after God was displeased with them. The lifting up of the hand means that God swore and declared judgment against Israel to overthrow them and make them fall in the wilderness, where many were overthrown. That judgment came after Israel despised the promised land, disbelieved God's word, and murmured instead of heeding Him. It came because God was displeased with Israel's sins, unbelief and rebellion, specifically their turning from God through evil desire and idolatry.

The judgment continues in the following verse against their descendants, who would be scattered among the nations. Israel's overthrow serves as a warning and example to God's people in the last days not to repeat Israel's sins, unbelief and rebellion.

The verse stands among Psalms 103, 104, 105, 106 and 107 repeated by a large company that keeps increasing in numbers until there is a multitude and an ever-increasing multitude. They pass one by one through a very narrow gate through which no one can take even the lightest burden, and those who are not willing to relinquish their idols are left behind.
