Psalms 109:15

Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.

The verse belongs to an imprecatory psalm that prays for the destruction of others by asking that their memory be cut off from the earth. Psalms of this kind are regarded as difficult to reconcile with the Sermon on the Mount.

The severe words in Psalms 105 to 110, including this verse, are predictive rather than appeals for personal revenge. They foretell tribulation and judgment upon evildoers and the enemies of His church and declare God's retributive wrath and justice against them, rather than urging people to harm them. The verse is God's pronouncement of punishment against the wicked whose lives are evil, not David asking God to curse his enemies. It is a plea for divine justice that those who plot wickedness against the innocent should receive the consequences of their own deeds.
