Psalms 111:6

He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen.

He has made known to His people the power of what He has done, with the purpose of giving them the inheritance that belonged to the pagan nations. That declaration belongs together with the surrounding affirmations that His work is honorable and glorious and His righteousness remains forever. It stands also with the truths that His wonderful works are to be kept in remembrance, that He is gracious and full of compassion, that He provides for those who reverently fear Him, and that He continually remembers His covenant. It belongs further with the truths that the works of His hands are truth and justice, and that His commandments are sure, standing fast forever in truth and uprightness.

Because He alone in such greatness and holiness dwells in light that cannot be approached, no sinful human being should assume the title reverend for himself. No mortal should set himself up as equal with God through sacred pretensions and distinctive religious dress. The right posture before Him is meekness and lowliness.
