Psalms 119:114

Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

The verse belongs to a psalm that exalts God's law and word. In its setting God's testimonies are presented as counsel and His word as a guide. The law is taught to be the rule of life, defining righteousness and distinguishing right from wrong and truth from error. God Himself is the hiding place, shield, refuge and protection of His obedient child and faithful servant, and His word is the ground of hope. That trust for protection belongs together with delight in His commandments, loving His law and hating vain thoughts, while keeping the commandments of God.

The same trust belongs with steadfast loyalty to God's commandments even when others disregard and oppose the law. The verse points out the sacredness of God's law. It warns that the wickedness of the world has reached the point where the Lord will certainly interfere and will no longer acquit the wicked.

The truths of the Bible are a covert, refuge and shield for converted Jews and Gentiles in the coming conflict. They shelter them from deceptive science taught under satanic guidance and from Satan's sophistries. Sheltered thus, they keep understanding God's works and ways and will.
