Angels Sing Over the Newly Made Earthby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 148:3

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

The verse calls the sun and the moon and all the stars of light to praise God. That call to the heavenly bodies stands within a wider summons for all of nature to bring praise to the Most High, so that all nature gives praise and the praise of God extends throughout the heavens. The summons reaches even to the forces of the earth and of the weather, and to things without reason or speech.

The heavenly bodies give this praise by their presence in nature and by their beauty and movements and work in nature. Their courses show forth God's praise, with each star in its course proclaiming His glory. Together their beauty, movements, and work proclaim His majesty and glory and praise. This is a silent testimony, for without voice they declare Him by what they are and do.

The sight of these wonders of creation inspires awe in the beholder. Their faithful praise rebukes people endowed with intelligence if those people remain silent and do not praise God.
