Psalms 73:10

Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

The verse belongs to David's account of faltering when he saw the wicked prosper while he himself struggled. It describes people who defy heaven and question whether God knows what they are doing. Its surrounding context affirms that God does know and will expose their deeds. David's distress tempted him to doubt God, but his trouble came from his own separation from God, not from God abandoning him.

The verse shows that the wicked often only seem to be prospered in their way. That seeming prosperity is a dangerous path for anyone who forgets God even for a brief time, and it tempts workers to become careless and inattentive to eternal interests. Those who tamper with evil do not realize its perils until habit grips them firmly in subjection, and God rejects their course so that His blessing will not attend them. Safety is found only by those whose hearts are guarded with pure principles, who keep up a constant battle against the selfishness and corruption of the human heart and pray to be held up from slipping.
