Song of Solomon 1:16

Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.

The address calls the loved one fair and pleasant and speaks of a shared bed that is green. It belongs to a poetic, figurative Oriental love poem presented as a parable and picture of Christ and His church. It expresses both Christ's love for the church and the church's responding love, though the church is often unfaithful and inconstant. The experiences of the lovers may also reflect Solomon's own life as a type of Christ and His church.
