Song of Solomon 3:2
I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.
The verse gives voice to the soul's longing to find the one it loves. That longing is for finding and being with the beloved, a desire for nearness and presence. Here it is voiced as a desire to see Jesus, put even in the form of wondering whether the speaker shall indeed see the one the soul loves.
